    Scholarship for a master’s degree or postgraduate studies in Germany. Graduates who have completed their bachelor’s or master’s degree by the time they commence their scholarship-supported study programme are eligible to apply.

  • Study Scholarships – Postgraduate Studies in the Field of Architecture and Arts

    Scholarship for a study stay aimed at further developing previous artistic achievements or for pursuing a master’s degree or postgraduate studies in Germany. Graduates in the fields of Architecture, Performing Arts as well as Fine Arts, Design/Visual Communication, Film and Music are eligible to apply.

    1 – 2 years

  • Research Grants in Germany

    Funding of a research stay at a university or a non-university research institute in Germany. Graduates, Doctoral students and young scientists (postdocs) are eligible to apply.

    Duration:

    PhD students: 2 – 12 months, Postdocs: 2 – 6 months

  • Research Grants

    Funding of a research stay at a university or a non-university research institute in Germany.

    Option A: Bi-nationally Supervised Doctoral Degrees (The aim of this programme is to promote binational doctoral degrees at the home university and at a university in Germany)
    Option B: Doctorate following the “Cotutelle” procedure (The doctoral degrees are supervised both by a university teacher at the home university and an academic adviser at the host institute in Germany according to the so-called “Cotutelle” procedure)

    7 – 24 months

    Monthly scholarship rate, payments towards health, accident and personal liability insurance cover, one-off research allowance, travel and accommodation expenses for supervising university teachers from Poland and Germany

  • Postdoctoral Researchers International Mobility Experience (PRIME)

    Funding of a temporary job position at a German university. The support is provided for 18 months, of which the first 12 months have to be spent abroad and the remaining six months in Germany. Young scientists (postdocs) are eligible to apply.

    Duration:

    18 months

    Benefits:
    Employment at a German university: payment in accordance with the rate for researchers with a doctoral degree applicable at the university, additional funding for the duration of the stay abroad

  • Future Network Weimar Triangle: Science for Europe

    Funding of a research stay at a university or a non-university research institute in Germany.

    Applications are open to PhD students and exceptionally qualified researchers from France, Poland and Germany who wish to get involved in the Future Network Weimar Triangle and conduct research on one of the future-oriented topics listed below:

    • Technologies for climate-neutral energy generation and mobility, and climate protection
    • Artificial intelligence and digitalisation, and microelectronics
    • Security in Europe and the resilience of the research system
    • Biotechnology and medicine of the future
    • Challenges, impacts and benefits of new technologies on and for society
    Duration:

    PhD students: 3 – 12 months, Postdocs: 7 – 24 months

  • Study Visits for Academics - Artists and Architects

    Funding of study visits at one or several universities in Germany. University teachers from the following disciplines are eligible to apply: Architecture, Fine Art, Film, Design, Visual Communication, Performing Arts, Music.

    Duration:

    1 – 3 months

    Benefits:
    Monthly scholarship rate, travel allowance, optionally: payments towards health insurance cover

  • DLR/DAAD Research-Fellowship-Programme

    Funding of a research stay at one of the institutes of the German Aerospace Center (DLR). Doctoral students, postdocs and senior scientists from the areas of Aeronautics, Space, Transportation and Energy are eligible to apply.

    Duration:

    Graduates: 9 months, PhD students: 3 years, Postdocs: 6 – 24 months, experienced scientists: 1 – 3 months

    The support varies for doctoral students, postdocs and senior scientists.

  • Re-invitation Programme for Former Scholarship Holders

    Funding for research and working projects at state or state-recognised institutions of higher education or non-university research institutes in Germany. You can apply if you are former holder of DAAD research grants or study scholarships and have been funded for more than six months by the Federal Foreign Office or in a programme co-financed with Federal Foreign Office funds or former East German scholarship holder who studied for at least one year in Germany. A doctorate is not a requirement.

    1 – 3 months

As proof of German language ability DAAD recognises:

  • results of the onSET test set by either DAAD Lektors or other German language teachers. Additional information: www.onset.de
  • certificates from Goethe-Institut and Österreich Institut; TestDaF, DSD II, DSH, Telc DeutschÖSD; German and Austrian high school results (Hochschulreife)

As proof of English language ability DAAD recognises:

  • results of the onSET test set by either DAAD Lektors or other English language teachers. Additional information: www.onset.de
  • certificates: Cambridge English, Cambridge Business, IELTS, ISE, TOEFL iBT, TOEFL Essentials, TOEIC, PTE Academic

Candidates who plan to study in English must also submit an assessment of their German language ability. Assessment of German language ability is still required of those who have no knowledge of German. Candidates from artistic disciplines are not required to submit proof of German language ability.
