Alexander von Humboldt Foundation: Hezekiah Wardwell Fellowship

Programme Description

The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation awards each year up to 10 fellowships to highly gifted young musicians and musicologists from Spain to help finance their further training or advanced academic studies at an academy of music or a conservatory in Germany. This includes academic supervision by recognised music teachers at colleges of music or conservatories or by specialist scholars from higher-education institutions. The supervision must, however, be bindingly agreed prior to the application. Initially, candidates can apply for a fellowship of 1 or 2 academic semesters.

Target Group

students of music and musicology from Spain with a first academic degree just embarking on their professional lives; preference will be given to candidates who have not yet had the opportunity to study in Germany.

Bachelor's or comparable academic degree completed no longer than 3 years prior to the start of the fellowship

up to 10 fellowships

Duration

Students can initially apply for a grant for 1 or 2 academic semesters (grant period: October to February or July of the following years). If a Wardwell grant is awarded for 10 months, up to 5 months of this period can be used to conduct advanced academic studies in another European country (excluding Spain), provided that this is a necessary step in completing the academic studies.

Scholarship Value

The monthly sponsorship sum is of 900 EUR. In addition, the Humboldt Foundation pays a single standard starting allowance of 250 EUR and a single standard travel expense allowance for fellowship holders travelling from Spain.
