Learning German in Poland

There are many opportunities for learning German in Poland: German courses are not only offered at the Goethe-Institut in Warsaw and Krakow and at the Österreich Institut, they are also offered at universities and many private language schools.

Goethe-Institut

Goethe-Institut e.V. is the Federal Republic of Germany’s cultural institute, active worldwide. Its tasks include promoting knowledge of the German language abroad and fostering international cultural cooperation. In Poland, the Goethe-Institut support the learning and teaching of the German language. Being the most important means of cultural communication, this creates an interest in Germany.

Österreich Institut

Österreich Institut GmbH is an institution that represents Austria’s international cultural policy. It runs German courses outside Austria and promotes cultural exchange. The Österreich Institut aims to offer a visible and tangible experience of Austria as a German-speaking country and member of the European Union. Also, it organises events and competitions related to Austria for course participants, German teachers and students.

Universities

If you are enrolled at a Polish university and wish to learn German, it is worth taking a look at the courses offered by the university’s foreign language centre (Języków Obcych studies).

Any DAAD Lektors working at your university will be pleased to give you further information.

Private language schools and Goethe-Institut test centres

German courses are offered by numerous private language schools. Some of these language schools are also certified Goethe-Institut test centres. These test centres are licensed to hold Goethe-Institut exams. Generally, the licensed centres also offer language courses preparing for the exams.
